I would say I’m definitely a morning person. I tend to naturally wake up early. Natural in the sense that even if I don’t set an alarm, I still automatically wake up anywhere from 3:30-5AM. Most people I know look like a deer in headlights when they hear this. “That’s the time I went to bed!!” Ohhh those crazy youngsters.
I actually love getting up early. Well most of the time. Some days I would looove to sleep in but sleeping in to me is usually til about 6 AM and then fuhgettaboutit, I’m awake. I’m pretty busy during the rest of the day so this make it more convenient to get my runs in. I’d say about 85% of my runs occur before 7 AM with another 10% in the late afternoon/early evening, and 5% midday runs. If I don’t run in the morning my chances of me getting to it late in the day decrease substantially because I will make excuses. Oh yes, “I’m too tired, too hungry, too something to go run. I’ll just do it tomorrow!” And because I don’t live in the safest of neighborhoods, I resort to the gym in the early morning hours, which works out great because I tend to get my choice of treadmills. Score!
I know people who don’t like treadmills. I love treadmills. I do. I also like the street and trails. In fact, I’m getting more into trails but that’s another topic for another day.
So until someone invents a bulletproof, car-proof, people-proof sphere that will allow me to run in the dark, scary streets at 4 AM then gym and treadmill is what I have and I will take that any day if that means I am able to run.
This morning’s run, courtesy of treadmill #3: 3 miles.
