foggy hilly miles

Posted on October 23, 2011June 13, 2015 by arunningmess

It was seriously so nice to sleep in this morning. By the time 6:30AM rolled around, I was ready to take off for my run, but when I looked outside, I noticed it was ridiculously dark and foggy. I decided to hold off on my run until I knew where I would be stepping. The ground is fairly uneven and choppy. If I can’t see the ground, I may misstep, and trip and fall my way into injury and out of my half marathon next weekend. That would be just my luck.

I finally got out the door sometime around 7:30AM and it was still very foggy. If I saw Adrienne Barbeau or Jamie Lee Curtis I would be wailing and screaming all the way back home and forget about these miles. The fog would eventually burn off, but for now, I was just going to enjoy running in it.

Because I wanted to tackle a lot of hills, I decided I would just take it easy on the run and not worry about speed or pace. Believe me, it wasn’t too difficult. 🙂 I grabbed my iPod, water, and phone, then set out on the most hilliest route I know. And I had so much fun!!

I looked around at the houses and saw a few cute Halloween displays.

 This house loves spiders!!
Maybe cute wasn’t the best word to use.
In the end, I managed to finish 6.75 foggy hilly miles. My goal was to complete 5 to 6 miles so I’m completely happy I did a little more. I’m also very happy I didn’t run the 12 miles I was initially thinking about running. I think that would’ve been a mistake on my part. I should know better than that, right?

After my run, I headed over to the farmer’s market to pick up some delicious samples goodies for the week.

I didn’t actually buy any pomegranates but I tried the sample and it was a bit too tart for me. However, it could’ve just been the sample I picked and I didn’t try another piece. I’m not one of those people who just stand there eating free sample after free sample. Mom, are you reading this? 😉 But I would probably wait a couple of weeks before getting some pomegranates.
 “Who you calling tart?“

Punkins!!!
Baby Punkins!!!

Yes, I called them punkins. 🙂 I didn’t get any pumpkins either but I wanted to just because those baby ones are just too darn cute.

See, the fog eventually burned off, and the sun came out. I sure hope the weather is exactly like this come next Sunday, but if not, I’m still ready for this race. Definitely.
