There is no better way to start off this post other than by saying Happy Blogiversary…to me!! A year ago today, I posted my very first blog entry, and I can’t believe I’m still writing a year later. I certainly have had fun with my silly little running journal, and I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store. I’m going to drink me a couple ‘o’ pints of Guinness and call it a day!
That’s if I decide to venture outside. It’s raining and chilly and windy and I don’t want to leave my place again. Today that is. I already ventured out once this morning when I went out to run the celebratory 1 mile with the LA Leggers. It’s LA Marathon Eve and we run 1 mile and have a guest speaker come in and scare the shit out of people running their 1st marathon give a pep talk to all those participating in the race. This year we had Jimmy Dean Freeman from Coyote Running.
After Jimmy Dean’s talk, I got to see a few people I haven’t chatted with in a very long while. I rarely speak to my friendly baseball nemesis, Doyle, and that’s not because I try to avoid Yankee fans, but because he’s in a different pace group, and I try to avoid Yankee fans. 😉 I kid.
That was when the funnies happened. I decided to get my photo with Jimmy Dean regardless. The first photo we took together, Jimmy Dean had his eyes closed, so we needed to take another one…
But this next one, we I tried to make it one of those silly fake laugh photos, as if we I just heard the most funniest outrageous joke in the world!
I’ve already been waiting for a few minutes, and then I realized I had about 5 minutes remaining on the parking meter and the Santa Monica Parking Enforcement Task Force would be in full swing enforcing their parking. The only problem was Jimmy Dean was still being chatted up by the person who jumped in. My gawd, how much longer was this going to take? I just wanted a quick photo.
I patiently waited for a few more minutes, and then it came down to 1 minute before the Santa Monica Parking Enforcement Commando would be enforcing their parking!
We chatted for a few minutes and then as I was leaving I had to take a quick photo with my friend Wendy who is seriously ready for the marathon.
Oh, and today’s run…the 1 mile didn’t happen. At least for me it didn’t. Some people did their mile before our guest speaker and the plan was to run after the talk, but then the rain hit harder, and I didn’t really want to get squishy socks. Of course, I did run. I ran all the way to the car and maybe it was the Luck of the Irish, but, no parking ticket. 🙂
May those LA Marathoners have that luck tomorrow!
