Today’s LA Marathon probably turned out way better weather-wise than anybody expected. No rain. Just partly cloudy, cool temps, and sunshine. This just goes to show, you don’t believe weather people. If you actually see and feel the rain, then it’s raining. Until then, it’s just rumor.
Sunshine keeps falling on my head…
I’ve run LA several times, and I’ve spectated at it a few times. I think I’m liking spectating a little more because I get to actually see people I wouldn’t normally see due to the fact I’m usually waaay behind them. Besides, spectating is the only time I can watch the Elite runners go by!
Winner Fatuma Sado (2:25:39)
Simon Njoroge (outside) won with a time of 2:12:12
When I saw these two guys, I thought they looked familiar. Turns out they were on Britain’s The X Factor a couple of years ago. How do I know that? Well back when I was a regular reader of Perez Hilton, I remember him mentioning them. Not sure if anybody else recognized them though.

One person the people around me didn’t seem to recognize was my running BFF, Deena Kastor! I wouldn’t be surprised if the gentleman behind her in the photo was Googling her name. I’m kidding of course! He’s checking the March Madness scores.
My awesome running BFF Deena Kastor!
One person people certainly recognized was Gingy from the Shrek series. Oh yes, Gingy kept nice and toasty during the race.

It was all fine and dandy cheering on all the runners I don’t know, but the main point was cheering on all the people I do know. First up, I saw Doyle who was intensely focused on putting one foot in front of the other.
Way to go Doyle!!
Next up, I saw my pace group! Wooo Hooo!! I’m super proud of them and I must say, they were the BIGGEST pace group of the Leggers out there. I’ve run five LA Marathon’s with the Leggers and it’s quite normal to deviate from the group whether it’s intentional or not. Whatever the reason may be, the number of people in the group at the start quickly dwindles down in numbers as the miles go on…but near the half way point, this group looked together and strong!
Looking good!!
And because I forgot to take a photo yesterday with my friend Mike, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss seeing him today.
Great job Mike!!
I had a blast at this year’s LA Marathon! The best part is my legs aren’t sore and I can run tomorrow. And sure, I won’t lie, watching all the runners go by made me want to do this one again. I’ll think about it. Let me just see what the weather is going to be like on race day first. 🙂
