Back in September I mentioned how I was undecided about running the 2014 LA Marathon. After this year’s difficult race, I was really aiming to redeem myself, but I couldn’t justify the price of it just yet. These days, races have become more expensive and I’ve become much more selective with what races get my hard earned money. Well, an opportunity came
along that I just couldn’t pass up. I’ll be training with Team NutriBullet to run the LA Marathon!!
Actually this wasn’t exactly an easy decision for me to make. I’ve run with the LA Leggers for many years and I run with some pretty awesome people in a fun-loving supportive group. Training with Team NutriBullet meant I couldn’t train with my dear friends in the Leggers. When I was contemplating my decision, I discussed it with a colleague of mine and she
offered some wise words — the Leggers will always be there, but this opportunity won’t. Some of my Legger friends offered up their support as well. I just knew this was a great gift offered to me, and if I really wanted to settle a score with LA, I needed to say yes. And so I did!

I couldn’t make it to the first meeting since I was running the Santa Monica-Venice Christmas Run but I joined up with the group during week 2 and Day 17 of the Runner’s World Holiday Running Streak. After some assessments were taken, such as heart rate (mine was clocked at 62 bpm and this was after a 5 minute run on a treadmill. Should I be worried? ) and cholesterol (mine was awesome), and weight (I’ve lost 6 pounds since October. Yeowza!), I took off for an 8 mile run.And the run was a little difficult. I was exhausted from a concert the night before and I was running on 4 hours of sleep, literally. I also started running much later in the morning than I normally start running because I didn’t get to take off until all the assessments were taken. This meant the weather got a little warmer. Not to mention I also ran alone. During the week my runs are pretty solo, but weekend long runs are usually in a group setting. I got through the run but it was just a little shock to my running system. But that’s part of training — to work through the tough spots and get through them.
But my running streak continued! Yippee!! Here’s how the rest of the week panned out:
Day 18: 1.02 miles
I was so exhausted. Flat out exhausted.
Day 19: 1.12 miles
I honestly didn’t feel like running this morning. It was
Monday and my hair looked really good. In 19 days this was the first time I
really struggled mentally and physically.

Day 20: 2.33 miles
Today I felt really good. I even did some weights and
strength training exercises for the first time in ages.

Day 21: 3.08 miles
Oh man, my body was sore from yesterday’s workout. Damn you
kettleballs.

Day 22: 4.10 miles
I felt great! Some pretty good tunes
kept me going. I love good running tunes. Besides 22 is my favorite number so how could I not have a great run.
