Day 24 of the Runner’s World Holiday Running Streak had me meeting Team NutriBullet for a 10 mile run. This was the first time pace groups were assembled and I started with a pretty good sized group. However, once we started ascending up the big hill for miles and miles, we lost people. Some people dropped back, but others sped up. Ok it didn’t go on for miles and miles, but it sure did feel like it. Hills are my friend. Hills are my friend.
I managed to keep up with the pacer for a good portion of the run except for the last half mile or so. I’m so used to having a run/walk in training and this was the first time I trained with running 10 miles continuously with no walk breaks. I’m pretty proud of myself for that. However, that last half mile or so my quads were crying so I needed to walk to get them some tissues. That last half mile I walked for a couple of minutes and that helped.
I was happy with this run, but I was left drained and it was very cold. Very cold, as in 42 degrees. Granted it’s like 0 degrees somewhere in America right now, 42 degrees in LA, it may as well be 0 degrees. I love it though. I love the cold weather when it hits. It needs to hit more.
Here is how the next week looked:
Day 25: 1.02 miles
Still very chilly outside. I loves it!
Day 26: 1.05 miles
Last time I’m running in my building’s parking garage. Buh-bye circles. Actually I shouldn’t say last time since I may do so again in the future. You never know.
Day 27: 3.20 miles
Christmas Eve run. I hit the treadmill and weights again. This time I wasn’t left so sore. I also spent this day with my mom and we went to see the movie “Her.” I loved it! I love Joaquin Phoenix when he acts so well. 🙂
Day 28: 2.45 miles
Merry Christmas run with Santa! I could’ve run longer but I really didn’t want to spend all of my Christmas morning running. I did a shorter run and called it a day.
Day 29: 4.45 miles
I loves the treadmill!
Day 30: 1.05 miles
Kept this one short as I had things to do like go see “American Hustle.” Wow, what a good movie!!
Just a few days remaining but the holiday streak continues!
Thanks for reading and Happy Running!
