Something which has filtered in and out of my thoughts since March, has finally come to fruition! For the past 3 months, my old Blogspot blog has sat quietly still, gathering dust, cobwebs, and the resemblances of an old abandoned ghost town. I knew I wanted to start writing again, but there was just something in my old platform I didn’t want to return to.
I wanted something new.
I wanted something different.
I wanted a new design.
I wanted something better.
I started putting this idea out there and the Universe started to listen.
On June 1st, I was sitting at lunch with a colleague and I mentioned I’ve been thinking a lot about relaunching my blog. One thing lead to another, and at some point she mentioned she has this Tarot app she finds amazingly accurate. I was intrigued.
She hands me her phone and tells me to focus on my question. As I swiped left and then swiped right, I asked the spirit guides for guidance about relaunching my blog. When I stopped, I selected one card. The Magician.
If you don’t know anything about tarot, let just say The Magician is one powerful card signifying new beginnings. It was a great card for me to pull, and it affirmed my decision to start up my blog up again. The Universe is indeed listening.
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve worked on this project trying to figure out how I wanted it to look, how I wanted it to function, and what was going to be the purpose of it. If I wanted it to be new, it needed to be different from how it was before.
The first thing I did was attempt to transfer over all the old posts into the new platform, WordPress. Well, there was something going on in the Universe you may, or may not have been aware of, and that is Mercury Retrograde.
Mercury Retrograde screws up a lot of stuff namely in the house of communications. To make a long story short, none of my old posts were able to be imported. So I got to work, manually copying and pasting each one over. Not an easy task and if you look, some of the formatting looks a little funky. There may even be a few kinks lurking around. The photos even look ginormous! Pretty sure, the folks on the International Space Station could see them. (For easy reference, the tag “blogspot post” will bring up any old post.) In the process, I cut out a lot of posts I didn’t feel were relevant, nor that good. Just like in running, I’m aiming for quality over quantity. No junk posts here…or at least kept to a minimum. Of course, no promises there. Undergoing this blogpost cleansing really helped get rid of some clutter (something I’m still working on in my own life).
Next was figuring out when I wanted to have this pre-work done by and be ready to relaunch this site. I picked Tuesday, June 16 for a reason. Actually four reasons:
- It’s on a Tuesday and I like Tuesday. Why? Because it’s not Monday.
- June 16, 2015 has the numerology number 3 and I have the same numerology number based on my birthday. (I actually don’t know anything about numerology).
- Mercury Retrograde is over. Yes! You’re not supposed to really do anything during Mercury Retrograde such as make big important moves, and especially don’t do anything involving communications. Relaunching the blog would not have been wise.
- The New Moon is on June 16. It’s new! What’s not to love about that?
Yes, you can say I put a lot of thought into this, but I can’t say enough how fun this whole process has been! It’s been one of the funnest projects I’ve been involved with and I am particularly proud of it. But it didn’t come about without some help.
I’d like to thank my family, friends, and colleagues who have offered up their input, advice, suggestions, feedback, and high-fives. It’s all much appreciated!
While I am a bit sad, the old Blogspot blog will be gone, I’m looking forward to something greater.
This blog is still in a little development phase, with new features popping up in the near future. But for now, I’ll leave you with this…
If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.
This quote has been credited to a few people (Tony Robbins, Henry Ford, and someone else) but regardless, it’s one of my favorites. So cheers to new beginnings!
Thanks for reading and Happy Running!
