I honestly can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the Dave Matthews Band live in concert. 12? 16 times? Somewhere around there. Mostly during the summer. And a few times on my birthday. (I love going to concerts on my birthday.) As probably with most DMB fans, I know which songs they tend to jam on a bit longer with. “Two Step” is one of those songs.
DMB can take a 6 minute song and easily make it twice, and even three times as long in concert. My sister and I would take guesses as to how long they’d play certain songs. “I’ll say 9 minutes.” “I’ll go with 14 minutes.”
I love the album versions of a song during a run, but if I am so compelled to listen to a live version, I can easily crank out a couple of miles with it. Okay, maybe a mile and a quarter.
This is one of the best songs they play live and a favorite of mine. I love this early performance because it was just them early in their career still, and they didn’t yet make this song into an 18 minute symphony. Plus, Carter Beauford just kicks ass on the drums (as always). And Dave, with his dancing feet and made up lyrics at the beginning just makes him Dave. But, one thing is for sure…

Thanks for reading and Happy Running!
