When I was going through my list of songs to pick, I just wasn’t feeling any of them for some reason. I turned on the Pandora and this was the first song that came on and it immediately jumped out at me.
“Go Big or Go Home” by American Authors is a fairly new song, but I love the message of it. As runners we eventually tend to start setting ourselves up for bigger goals, and bigger challenges. Why not?
Why settle with what we’ve already achieved?
There really are two reasons why this song struck me:
1. I have another 50 mile race coming up and even though I could’ve easily signed up for the 50K, I went bigger. Yes, I could end up dropping down to the 50K, but my A goal is 50 miles. That’s what I’m training for and that’s what I want. Although a part of me would be quite happy with the 50K distance considering I didn’t reach it in my last 50K.
and
2. I thought of two awesome Twitter friends, Angela and Melissa, who both went BIG over the weekend completing a 50K and 50 Mile, respectively. Angela finished her first ultra and both these ladies are amazing and inspire me!
For me, going big is important because life’s too short. Don’t settle for what we have. Think big. Dream big. Achieve big. And let’s live our life with no regrets.
Enjoy and thanks for reading listening!
Yess! Love that attitude! It’s what you’re training for and what you want — don’t be afraid to go for it! 🙂
Thank you! Yes I agree! Don’t settle and go for what you want no matter how big. 🙂
