This was the day A Running Mess was born. My baby is officially 5 years old! My oh my how time flies since the very first blog post, toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in kansas anymore. The blog you see now, was not the blog I had then. Just like people, this blog has had many face lifts, and I wouldn’t rule out another one at some point, but when I started it I had no idea what I was getting myself into. A part of me still doesn’t know, but it’s been a complete joy getting to create something I never knew I had in me to create.
There have certainly been moments when I didn’t feel like writing, and I didn’t even look at the blog for long while. One thing I feared was getting bored and feeling obligated to put something out there just for the sake of doing so. I suppose that’s where the stretches of breaks came in because a part of me was feeling like that. Changing up the appearance and the dynamic of the blog last year – switching over from Blogspot to WordPress- helped bring back the passion I had for blogging on my little platform. Sometimes small tweaks make a big difference.
I suppose the biggest hinderance for me putting more writing content is time. Lately I’ve been trying to find a better balance between work, training, writing, and doing other life activities like going to the movies, reading, sleeping, hanging out with friends, spring cleaning, etc. You know, life things. But the day I don’t enjoy writing for my blog anymore, is the day I’ll shut it down. Nothing is ever worth doing unless you absolutely love and enjoy it. Same thing goes for running. And I LOVE the little blog I created here.
So Happy St. Patrick’s Day and Happy Blogiversary to A Running Mess, and cheers to whatever comes next!
If you’ve been reading my stuff since way back then, I completely commend you and thank you from the bottom of my heart!
