While Javelina Jundred is a big important race for me in terms of distance. There is another race I’m aiming to complete in terms of meaning. Yes, Javelina has a lot of meaning attached to it as well, but the Chicago Marathon is one race I hold near and dear to my heart.
Chicago was my first marathon and it was my first venture into long distance running. Chicago started this long, wild and crazy road to where I am now. Suffice it to say, without the Chicago Marathon, there may never have been a Javelina.
This year I plan on going back to Chicago to celebrate my 25th marathon. And this time I’m raising money for the American Cancer Society, an organization I feel so strongly about supporting as I’ve had two aunts bravely fight the disease up to their final days.
I don’t think I know a single person who hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way or another – either knowing someone who has battled it in the past, know someone currently fighting it, or have endured it themselves.
Recently I received my Team DetermiNation shirt from the ACS and I wanted to put it on so badly! But I decided to hold off and wait until I reach at least 75% of my fundraising goal before I put on this precious item. This is the shirt I will indeed be proudly wearing in Chicago, but I need your help.
Please help me by supporting this cause by going to my fundraising page. Any amount is appreciated no matter how small! Yes, $1.00 helps. If you donate $25.00 or more and would like me to run in honor of someone you know who has battled, or is battling cancer, please let me know their name. It would be an honor for me to carry their name with me.
Thank you for reading and for your support! Together we can fight cancer!

Christina
