3.52 miles
Note to self: Don’t watch the current season of Stranger Things just before you, I mean, I go to bed.
The Dilemma
I have a situation, and it involves math.
Currently, I’m participating again in the Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee (GVRAT) and I need to complete 639 miles by August 31st. As of today, I’ve completed 160 miles, so I’m 479 miles short.
Following the training plan for Chicago until August 31st, is around 352 miles. This means I am behind, 4 million miles that I need to complete for the GVRAT!
Ok, it’s only 127 miles but it feels like 4 million.
In other words, following the plan I have, when August 31st rolls around, I will only have completed 512 miles (give or take) and, not the 639 miles I need to officially finish.
The questions are: Do I abandon the training plan and go off script so that I can get these miles in? Or do I stick to the plan and say adios to finishing GVRAT this year?
With 83 days remaining, I would need to complete an average of 5.77 miles per day.
Honestly, I don’t feel like I can abandon the GVRAT and walk away. When I sign up for something, I intend to see it through.
But if that’s the case, I need to slip in some easy miles here and there in order to finish the GVRAT on time.
Oh, what to do? What to do?
