10.45 miles
I don’t know what it was exactly. Maybe it was the rest day yesterday. Maybe it was last night’s pizza for dinner. Maybe it was the wide-brimmed hat. Maybe it was the beautiful overcast morning. Maybe it was the fact it was 20 degrees cooler today than last weekend.
I honestly don’t know exactly what it was but I sure would love to repeat it because today’s trail run, felt a world of difference from last Saturday’s run.
The goal was 7 to 9 miles and I would’ve been fine stopping at 7, but I kept going.
When I reached 9 miles, I took out my AirPods, put on the SiriusXM 80’s Big 40 Countdown from 1981 (there are some good songs in there!), and made it my cool down.
The magic showed up today!
During this run I also switched to my Injinji socks and my feet felt happier. No blisters still but no hot spots either. They were a new pair that I’ve had a while but haven’t worn yet.
It’s true we learn more from the runs that don’t go well than the ones that do. Now I’m trying to see where I can improve from this one because I know I can.
Overall I’m pleased with how today’s long run went, and I hope I can repeat this feeling and experience more times than not this training season. But today was a very good day.
Thank you for reading my daily post on my Chicago Marathon training.
