Chicago Marathon Training: F 8.12.22

Posted on August 12, 2022 by arunningmess

8.29 miles (AM) and 6.78 miles (PM)

Total – 15.07 miles

Yesterday I mentioned I may need to get creative with my long run. Seeing that my weekend was going to prevent me from having a long run, I needed to get these 15 miles in somehow and some way today.

While it’s not ideal, I wasn’t too concerned about how I get these miles in as long as I get them. As the saying goes, if it’s important, you’ll find a way and if it’s not then you’ll find an excuse.

I could have found an excuse and it would’ve been I didn’t have time but I carved out time today and it wasn’t easy.

Long miles broken up is, I think, harder than one continuous effort. Doing double short runs are much easier. Mentally having to go back again later for another long-ish run is what’s tough. This is probably why I’ve completed the Yeti 24 Hour 50K Challenge only once.

But I am enormously proud of myself for getting these miles completed!

Thank you for reading my daily post on my Chicago Marathon training.
