13.33 miles
It’s beautiful when a long run doesn’t mentally feel so long once you’ve surpassed that number in training. That is, I kept telling myself today was “only” 12 miles but that didn’t stop me from feeling like I was running through quicksand with 20-pound cinder blocks attached to my legs at the beginning of the run. Eventually, the quicksand eased up, the cinder blocks fell off, and the run felt more manageable, but not easier.
Even with it being “only” 12 miles, this run didn’t feel physically easier than last week’s 16 which makes me nervous about next weekend’s 18. But I’m not to think about it too much right now. Today I got these miles done with a little extra at the end and that makes it a good day.
Thank you for reading my daily post on my Chicago Marathon training.
