5.15 miles
Do you know what a great running song is? “New Sensation” by INXS. It never fails to put some extra oomph in my running step. In fact, a new sensation is something I’ve been experiencing today.
I felt fine during the run itself, but what occurred afterward has me concerned.
After sitting for a while I stood up and as I walked I could feel this dull ache in my left hip area. It’s not sharp nor painful and it didn’t hurt to walk. I didn’t even feel it during my run.
And I’m trying not to freak out because it could be nothing. Today was to be a double run of 5 in the morning and 5 in the evening but I made the decision to skip the second run.
I am so close to the marathon and don’t want to jeopardize it. So much time and effort have gone into getting to that start line and more importantly across that finish line so if I have to cut back some runs, or take extra rest days then I will.
Tomorrow I will lace up my shoes and see how it goes, and maybe I’ll add “New Sensation” to my playlist. Actually, their other song “What You Need” puts a bigger oomph into my running step and what I need right now is my body to get me through the next 25 days.
Thank you for reading my daily post on my Chicago Marathon training.
