0 miles – Rest Day
Week 18 has arrived!! Otherwise known as Race Week!!
It seriously blows my mind how fast these past 4 months have zoomed by and prior to beginning training, I had no idea that I would post every single day which is not something I would’ve ordinarily done. So why this time?
Well here is a funny story that I’ve never shared with anyone…until now.
It was the early morning of Thursday, May 26th, 2022. As I was waking up, I heard a voice that didn’t sound like my own say to me “write a daily blog post on your training.”
I am not kidding and I wish I was kidding.
The voice was clear and there was no mistaking what it had said, and as soon as I heard it, my eyes sprung open. As I stared around the room, I wondered who was talking to me and suggesting this nonsense. I mean, it was weird, and if a voice wanted to tell me anything, why not let me know the winning lottery numbers instead? That would’ve made better sense, and I would’ve been a whole lot more appreciative.
Never mentioning it to anyone, over the next several days I kept thinking to myself, this wasn’t my idea. I didn’t come up with the idea to post daily, but where did it come from? I know I didn’t consciously decide to post daily. Of course, I could’ve easily decided not to, but a part of me was curious so I accepted the challenge.
While I don’t regret it, there were some days I wasn’t sure if I could get a post in but I knew I was going to keep them fairly short with a few exceptions here and there.
Posting daily has been an enjoyable experience and allowed me to remain accountable for my training and that may have played a huge part in the overall experience.
Once Chicago is over I won’t be posting every day because I am looking forward to that off-season! Unless that voice decides to wake me up again and direct me to my next race. But I hope not because I may just have to tell it to be quiet so I can go back to sleep. Or at least let me know those winning lottery numbers.
Thank you for reading my daily post on my Chicago Marathon training.
Glad you listened to the voice. 🙂
Thank you Jesse!
