9667 steps which I think roughly translates to 18 miles-ish, give or take.
This morning I planned on getting up early and going for a short run but it was raining and I didn’t feel like dealing with it so I stared at the rain out the window of the bus headed toward the expo.
Today was a big day! It was Expo day!
If I can, I will always opt to hit up the marathon expo on Friday instead of Saturday the day before the marathon. The reason being walking around expos, especially big race expos, is exhausting. I knew Chicago would be huge and there would be a ton of vendors I wanted to visit so I eased my way around.
There are people who can go in and out of a race expo in a few minutes and for the most part that was my goal too especially with the number of people I saw going in. My anxiety went up at the sheer volume. But I got caught up with everything going on and stayed longer than I was planning. There was so much going on and time flew by so fast! It was so much fun!
The rain didn’t last long and once the skies cleared the weather was absolutely perfect! However, Sunday’s temperature looks to have climbed up to 68 degrees Fahrenheit which doesn’t quite reach the 60-degree mark that I was hoping for. Oh wells. It was fun while it lasted. But 68 isn’t bad. It sure does beat the 90 degrees I’ve been having so I’ll take it!
The marathon will not be easy. At some point, my body will be tired and sore. In fact, there could be many points in the race where I will doubt everything I’ve done. The goal is to keep moving. Barring injury, the goal is to keep moving no matter how slow.
And now just two more sleeps to go before race day. Tomorrow I plan on resting, relaxing, and hydrating as much as possible. The nerves are kicking up and no matter what happens during the race I am so grateful for everything. Absolutely grateful.
Thank you for reading my daily post on my Chicago Marathon training.
