Today is the 14th anniversary of when I published my first blog post – toto, i’ve a feeling we’re not in kansas anymore – on March 17, 2011, and that day marked the launch of this blog.
Now it’s March 17, 2025, and I am publishing my final blog post here. Yes, it’s the end of an era.
For the past few weeks, I’ve kept putting off writing this post because I’ve struggled to come up with the right words for what I want to say, and the truth is I don’t even know what to say. Besides, I’m not good at saying goodbyes. How do I say goodbye to a blog I’ve invested countless hours devoted to writing and to a name I’ve held onto for 14 years?
When I started writing A Running Mess I read a handful of blogs and now they’re all gone. Honestly, I can’t believe this blog has even withstood 14 years. There’s been some downtime here and there, but I’ve always come back and checked in at some point. However, I don’t foresee that happening here.
The time has come for me to bid adieu to this old blog but while this site will no longer be active (or at least I won’t be actively posting here), I’ll still be sharing my writing over at a new space: Substack under a new name, booklymiles.
I know booklymiles is an odd name but I purposely didn’t want to have “running” in the title and I do mention books periodically.
There will be some similarities between this and the new blog, or as it’s considered, newsletter, but they won’t be exactly the same. At least that’s my intention. Truth is, I’m still trying to figure it out and find my footing there. It’s a new venture for me but like anything new, it’s an opportunity to learn and see how things progress and evolve.
14 years is a long time here and I thank those who have been here since the early days and those who came along for the ride through the years.
If you’d like to subscribe to the new newsletter (you can opt to receive it for free), you can sign up at:
https://booklymiles.substack.com/
And if you don’t want to subscribe, that’s perfectly fine too.
So, from the bottom of my heart thank you again for reading and perhaps I’ll see you on the flip side. Take care.
Goodbye A Running Mess. Signing off.
